[PLUG] replacing HDD w/ SSD: brackets?

if you have an actual rail that the drive attaches to with screws, you're
unlikely to have issues. the spacer is important in situations where the
drive is held in just with a small covering piece on the end, this leaves
it to rattle around in the space if it's too small.

from what you describe, I wouldn't bother opening it up to check again. if
you can shake the machine and don't hear a big rattle, you're fine.

anyway, it's not like you have spinning platters to worry about bumping
against things any more :)
