   Unless I misunderstand your situation, as long as SpiritOne is your ISP it
is your gateway to the 'Net.

   When their mail and web servers went offline I could still access the Web,
receive e-mail messages (I run my own mail server), and download files using
ftp. So the pipe from you to the world goes across the CL copper and through
SpiritOne's routers.
