Hello Dick,

That howto should work fine. Note that libvdpau is now included in
Slackware and does not need to be installed. Also, unless you play video
games or other software I would skip the 32-bit compatibility libraries
(COMPAT32).

You can either
1. Use my slackbuild scripts on SBo
2. Use the Nvidia installer script directly

For the GT 610 you will need
Latest Legacy GPU version (390.xx series): 390.87

For installation via (1) do not use sbopkg, slackpkg or other automated
tools. The nvidia proprietary driver is a complex beast. Also, before
installation, don't forget to blacklist the open source nouveau driver.
This method has the advantage that the 2 nvidia packages are
relocatable: you can (re)install them on another or the same box if
needed without needing to recompile.

Once installed and the system rebooted, you can either:
1. build a /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/xorg.conf manually to your liking.
2. in CLI, run nvidia-xconfig, then nvidia-settings to configure X and
the 2 monitors.
3. Fire up KDE or Xfce and look for nvidia-settings GUI (listed as
Nvidia X server settings) in the "settings" menu to graphically
configure monitor setting and position.

Easy peasy!
Ed
