Hi, John:

   When you issue the command, 'mount' (no quotation marks, of course) what
do you see? I expect you'll not see the optical drives.

   However, ... what do you see when you try 'sudo /dev/sr0/
/mnt/<some_available_mount_point>'? Does root mount it for you? Looking at
the permissions you show you might need to add your user name to the cdrom
and disk groups in /etc/group.
