Final note: with jdk-8u221 as the only jdk on the system, JabRef-3.8.2.jar
runs on the 64-bit host as it does on the 32-bit host. So, it's functional.

I've posted a question on the JabRef mail list asking what version(s) of jdk
(or openjdk/openfx) will run JabRef-4.3.1.jar.
