Hmm. That is very muy interesante. I have Xubuntu 16.04 on my laptop
(dist-upgraded from the original Xubuntu 14.04) and I have Xubuntu 18.04
(original) on my desktop. Neither computer has ever had any other
desktop than Xfce, except for random pieces needed to install
applications. Geeqie was nowhere to be found on either computer. In
fact, I had never heard of it. But 'sudo apt install geeqie' did the
job, and now I have a new image viewer to play with. The default
(without changing the 'open with' settings) seems to be Ristretto on
the Xubuntu 18.04 desktop. On the laptop the current default is Eye of
Gnome, but I dimly recall changing the default a long time ago.
