I'm in the same situation.  I install specific apps that I need but never a repository.

I am running Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04 on multiple Lattitude and XPS laptops for many years but have always just run stock, never added their repos.
What do their repos offer that vanilla Ubuntu doesn't?
