Jason,

I saw that it can convert many formats yet thought that recording to a cd
was limited to .wav format.

What is CDIF other than a bacterial disease?

Just started re-reading Carla Schroeder's 2011 Audacity book; it's
apparently the most recent dead tree resource for this application.
Apparently audacity, as of version 1.3.x, can also create audio cds. I'll
get to that chapter eventually.

Aside from this, in chapter 1 she describes making a voice recording and
this made me wonder about microphones for webinars and video conferencing:
are the microphones included in webcams suitable for use or would investment
in an external dynamic mic be worth the cost? Anyone have thoughts on this?

Regards,

Rich
