That sounds like what I was thinking of. I'll give that a try when I can 
get back to it.

Xfce Power Manager
System Tab
     System power saving
         System sleep mode: [Suspend]
         When inactive for [never]

Display Tab
     Display power management        [(blue background] O on right end]
         Blank after              [10 minutes]
         Put to sleep after     [20 minutes]
         Switch off after        [never]
