OK, so all the other kids are bringing apples to their teacher at
school. Really - how many MacOSX machines can a teacher use?
Think differenter. Send your child (or someone else's child,
if you forgot to have one) to school with the gift of Linux.
Bring your computer to the Clinic Sunday afternoon 1 to 5 pm,
at Free Geek, 1731 SE 10th, and we will upgrade it to Linux,
chock full of the free, open source goodness that impresses
teachers and other students alike.
We will have distros, screens, keyboards and mice, coffee, and
munchies. Free Geek is upgrading their network, but assures us
that wired and wireless internet will be available.
Your child will become an A student. If not from their teacher,
from using their new software and network skills to correct
grading mistakes in the school's poorly-secured database. Give
your child the tools they need to get into Harvard, Yale, or
Stanford - with their own poorly-secured admissions and financial
aid databases. See http://xkcd.com/327/
See you Sunday!
Keith
