I'd like to hae it done in phases, to be negotiated, committed to, and paid separately. Overall System Goals: I am interested in utilizing this laptop as a test bed for server side applications and as a CVS server. Phase one: Feasability Study - Examine the hardware I have (listed below) and assess the prospects of its use for Linux and submit a very informal report and bid for Phase two. Phase two: Implementation - Install Linux as the sole OS for the laptop. Also install XWindows (or?), CVS, ANT and a miscellaney standard C and Java developers tools, etc. Orient me to the system and its maintenance. Delivery date: I would like to have a complete, working system in my hands by mid-to-late-April. IMNSHO, this is not a particularly agressive schedule. Followup: Occasional, probably infrequent, consultation on my development plans and system support, as needed. Hardware description (details provided on request): Gateway Solo 9300 256 MiBytes of RAM 150 MHz Pentium processor 30 MiByte Hard drive 20 MiByte 2nd Hard drive (may be failing soon) serial, parallel and infrared ports video in/out modem Modular devices (all Gateway std): LS-120 SuperFloppy CD-ROM/DVD drive primary battery (x2) secondary battery Networking Adapters availabile (consider others): Netlink USB Network adapter D-Link Wireless PCMCIA card Who am I: A developer, currently unemployed and working a non-funded startup which focuses on tools, training and consulting on project requiements analysis and agile development methodologies. I have with a strong development background in java, C++, XML/XSLT/XSL-FO, C and distributed solutions development, some exposure to development in Linux, even though I do not wish to concentrate my efforts there right now. Considering my finances, I'm naturally interested in keeping costs down. On the other hand, as a professional myself, I know the value of the work done and expect to pay a fair rate. I will consider trade of services as well. Please contact me directly (I do not monitor this list) for particulars, to make comments and/or to submit a bid, accompanied with some information about your background.
