Job Title:

IT/IS Network Administrator

Job Description:

Responsible for all hardware, operating system, database, and 
application-level administration of internal systems that support the 
client and its customers.

Operates in an on-call capacity, handles escalated help desk trouble 
tickets, and responds to all emergencies . Installs and configures 
UNIX-based web sites running WebLogic with Oracle databases. Implements 
and maintains a security infrastructure for web-based applications as 
well as creating policies for retaining data integrity. Maintains 
connectivity solutions for telecommuting engineers and offshore 
development teams.

Tasks include ongoing administration of firewalls, assignment of 
appropriate access entitlements to each user, encryption/authentication, 
virus containment, audit compliance, TCP/IP networking, and familiarity 
with major application-layer protocols such as SMB, HTTP/S, SMTP, and DNS.

This role is also responsible for the support of the internal Win2K 
Server and desktop environments, Exchange 5.5 email and Veritas backup 
systems.

The candidate should be able to:

- Perform user and system management to both internal users and customers

- Coordinate with third party vendors (Network, Telecom, Hosting, and SW/HW)

- Evaluate, test, and apply critical system updates in a timely fashion

- Monitor utilization and perform capacity evaluation and planning

- Provide file backup and recovery

- Assure adequate storage management

- Provide basic engineering tools support for Software Engineers

- Manage Access Control Lists for Servers, Firewalls, and Routers

- Complete escalated help desk trouble tickets within the appropriate 
timeframe

- Work closely with technical architects and managers on infrastructure 
improvements

- Provide supervision and guidance to one or more junior administrators 
and/or interns

- Document procedures, network topologies, and adequately explain 
systems to non-technical managers

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of 5 years network 
administration and user support experience to include a minimum of 3 
years experience supporting Sun Solaris and/or Linux servers in a server 
farm environment, including performing daily tape backup and disaster 
recovery. Candidate must be able to lift 65 lbs.

It looks like the perm salary will be $40-50K/yr.
