Hi PLUG folks,

 

EdgeLink is currently representing a cool start-up based in Portland and
San Francisco, that has been getting a lot of press lately for their
unique product/service.  They are seeking an experienced Systems
Administrator to manage their growing network of Linux web and database
servers. The systems administrator will work closely with management to
ensure ongoing operation of their critical infrastructure and will be
the business owner of all of their company's server-related software and
hardware.

 

Responsibilities:

 * Work with management to define, document, and implement standards,
policies, and tools to support the management, security, and operation
of company servers.

 * Monitor and report on system usage, performance, and security

 * Provide continual analysis of system usage to determine current needs
and future requirements

 * Provides recommendations for tools, procedures, enhancements, and
hardware to support future growth, enhance security, and improve
reliability

 * Manage day to day operations of servers and related business and
communication tools including email, source code management (SCM),
instant messaging, file sharing, and collaboration

 * Perform DBA tasks

 * Build and configure new servers

 

Requirements:

 * Minimum six years experience managing Unix servers in internet
environments

 * Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal direction and
supervision

 * Experience with high availability systems, web server load balancing,
and database clustering

 * Experience with the maintenance and operation of Linux (RHEL),
Apache, PHP, and MySQL

 * Experience with system and network security including firewalls,
intrusion detection, and DDoS prevention

 * Excellent verbal and written communication

 * Ability to work with remote, distributed teams

 * Be authorized for employment in the United States
