POSITION SUMMARY:

The Systems Administrator is a member of the group responsible for the
setup, configuration, operation, maintenance, update and backup of
server

based systems and applications that support technical operations.  This
position will concentrate on OSX server administration and Linux
administration, and is ideal for an experienced administrator who seeks
large enterprise experience.

 

SELECTED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Participates in requirements definition, hardware/software
specification, configuration development and installation and operation
of servers and applications.

2. Operates, maintains, designs and implements Apple OSX Server
solutions and Mac platform integration solutions.

3. Tracks, performs and monitors the results of updates to system and
application hardware/software.

4. Performs preventative maintenance on servers and associated hardware.

5. Acts as Unix systems administrator, and ensures a high degree of
reliability, visibility, operability and documentation for all
Unix-based systems.

6. Develops and maintains a complete set of up-to-date documentation for
all assigned systems in accordance with local and industry guidelines.

7. Provides support to groups & functions in support of IT objectives.
Supports & coordinates w/ other IT & outside agency personnel in
troubleshooting & resolving system problems.

8. Provides system administration services for a wide variety of
applications and platforms, including Mac, Linux (RedHat), Apache,
Samba, load balancing software and anti-virus systems.

9. Defines and maintains software and data backup schedules and
scheduled tasks for assigned servers and systems to ensure data
integrity and continuity of system data and files.

10. Develops and maintains server and network monitoring plans to ensure
that all systems are monitored and system parameters are regularly
logged in accordance with IT standards.

 

MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A minimum of 3 to 4 years systems administration experience required
with Linux and Unix systems, including RedHat and OS 9.2 and greater.

2. At least 3 to 4 years experience with LDAP, eDirectory experience
preferred.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of software and hardware standards
requirements and enforcement, principles of operation and general
methods of system troubleshooting and interoperability.

4. Prefer 2 to 3 years experience with OSX Servers and associated
applications.

5. At least 3 years experience in programming with Perl, shell scripts,
C and PHP is preferred.

6. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

7. Valid driver's license and personal vehicle available for site
visits.

8. Experience with one or more of the following is a plus:

a. OS10.2 Server and above

b. GroupWise 6.5 and above

c. EDirectory

d. Samba

e. Mac OS 9.2 and above

f. RedHat server OS

g. Load balancing software

h. TFTP, DHCP, PXELinux netbooting services
