Systems Engineer/Sr. (UNIX)

Duration:  immediate - six months    

 

Main responsibilities:

 Maintains systems and the hosted services through monitoring, data
backup, troubleshooting and proactive security measures.  Develops
highly complex tools for managing the systems and makes all services
available to users. May provide technical assistance in support of
clients.

 

Minimum qualifications:

Exceptional knowledge of Unix, Shell or Perl scripting, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN,
Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, and Linux.

Exceptional knowledge of one or more hardware platforms.

Strong customer service skills

Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills at a complex
level.

Demonstrated experience with applying complex principles into business
application.  

3-5 years experience in the Sun Solaris operating system

 

Preferred qualifications:

Knowledge of the IBM AIX operating system

Experience in the electric Utility industry or in an environment whose
scope, size and complexity are comparable
