Hi All,
Apex Systems Inc in Portland is looking for a SR. UNIX SYSTEMS
ADMINISTRATOR for a 6 MONTH CONTRACT in SALEM, OR. Qualified candidates
should have RELEVANT EXPERT LEVEL EXPERIENCE. 

BACKGROUND: 
Client has undertaken a project to consolidate twelve data centers into
one single Data Center. Inherent in this mission is the need to
consolidate and standardize computing platforms in order to increase
availability, reliability, and serviceability as well as reduce
recurring operational costs. The Enterprise Support Group requires the
technical expertise of a Senior Level UNIX Subject Matter Expert, also
referred to as a UNIX Systems Administrator III (?UNIX SA?), capable of
supporting the existing UNIX environment. The UNIX staff can then focus
on the planning and execution of the migration and consolidation
activities involved in the migration from Solaris to AIX. 

WORK SCHEDULE/SUPERVISION: 
1. The UNIX SA will receive direction from and report to the Enterprise
Systems Support Manager or the UNIX Systems Team Lead ("Designee"). 
2. The UNIX SA will be expected to work a minimum 40 
hours per week. 
3. The tasks and deliverables outlined in the Statement of Work will
take up to 1040 hours and may be terminated at any time based on needs. 

STATEMENT OF WORK: 
The UNIX SA will assume the existing staff duties to the extent
possible; supporting the existing UNIX Solarix and AIX environment. The
existing staff can then focus on the planning and execution activities
involved in the migration from Solaris to AIX. UNIX SA services shall
include but not limited to: 
1. Participation in the maintenance and administration of the existing
UNIX (Solaris and AIX) environment. 
2. Resolution of Service Desk Tickets. 
3. Work with team in migrating Solaris work to an AIX environment. 
4. Design and implementation of solutions to Agency Support Requests. 

REQUIRED SKILLS: The UNX SA shall: 
1. Have excellent customer service and IT project associated
communication skills. 
2. Have the ability to manage multiple UNIX environments. 
3. Have extensive IBM AIX operating system experience. 
4. Have Sun Solaris operating system experience. 

PREFERRED SKILLS: It is preferred that the UNIX SA have the following
skills/knowledge: 
1. Extensive knowledge of Sun Solaris operating system. 
2. Oracle database management systems. 
3. Middleware in support of web based processing 
(Websphere, Apache, Tomcat, etc.) 

TASKS/DELIVERABLES: 
Task 1: Provide Solaris and AIX system administrationfunctions as
needed. 
Deliverables: 
1a. Execution of tasks under the direction of the UNIX 
team leader. 
1b. Strict adherence to change reporting/requesting 
processes as defined by the ORGANIZATION. 
1c. Assist in the administrative activities as required for 
both new development and the day-to-day operation of 
the Enterprise UNIX computing environment. 

Task 2: Become the primary contact point for the 
Service Desk in resolving Service Desk ?tickets? 
issued to the Enterprise UNIX group. 
Deliverables: 
2a. Resolution of Service Desk tickets including: 
i. Communication with the customer. 
ii. Assessment of the issue. 
iii. Resolution of the issue with strict adherence to 
change reporting/requesting processes. 
iv. Documentation of work in Remedy HelpDesk 
system. 

Task 3: Assist with migration of systems from Solaris to 
AIX. 
Deliverables: 
3a. Completed migration work including: 
i. Communication with the customer including meeting 
all planning, documentation 
and process guidelines. 
ii. A detailed assessment of the customer's needs, 
system impact and migration work requirements. 
iii. Design and implementation of a solution that meets 
those needs. 
iv. Documentation of the work performed.
