MontaVista Software Inc. is looking for a part-time employee (or summer
intern) to help in the maintenance of our kernel tree. MontaVista is one
of the leading providers of embedded Linux tools and services and is in
use in a range of applications including cell phones, gaming systems,
DVRs, medical devices, routers, VOIP devices, etc. For more about the
company, see http://www.mvista.com.

In this position, you will be working with the MontaVista kernel maintainer
with the following tasks:

- Keeping the MontaVista kernel tree in sync with the upstream community
kernel in a bi-directional basis, pulling and pushing patches as needed.

- Testing of the kernel on a variety of hardware platforms including ARM,
PowerPC, MIPS, SH, and x86-based systems.

- Developing tools to automate kernel-related development, build, and
  testing tasks.

You do not need to have much (or any) kernel hacking hacking experience as
this position will provide an opportunity to learn, but the ideal candidate
will meet most of the following requirements:

- Experience with administering their own Linux systems as this is a work
  from home position.

- A basic understanding of operating system and computer architecture
  concepts.

- Experience programming in C

- Exposure to, preferably experience, with assembly programming.

- Using source control tools such as git and CVS

- Writing scripts to automate complex tasks

- Building customized kernels from source

- A desire to learn and be involved in the Open Source community.

Please email me if interested.

Thanks,
~Deepak
