Our client is looking for a Senior Informix DBA to manage all aspects of physical Informix databases (in-house; third party and reporting applications) in all operating environments to provide for the accessibility, security, and integrity of company data.  Services are provided to clients, peers, and help desk personnel on a global basis 7 x 24.  This position will also be considered at the Lead level.

Responsibilities: 

*	Support Business Systems Application development team with technical and 
	physical design, development, and maintenance of Informix databases, 
	hosted both locally and throughout the world, including 
	programming/scripting, implementation, performance monitoring, tuning, 
	planning, and problem resolution.   Install, upgrade and patch Informix 
	RDBMS engine, 4GL, Client SDK, and SQL.

 *	Consult with development teams in use of tools for reading and manipulating 
	Informix data and in troubleshooting Informix related problems.  Advise and 
	support teams on use of standard practices for the design and 
	implementation of databases to meet user application requirements.  Assist 
	support teams and UNIX administration in the troubleshooting of compilation 
	issues of 3rd party software.

 *	Evaluate and test new versions of Informix, 4GL, and SQL, as well as 3rd 
	party vendor utilities and reporting tools used to support Informix. 

 *     	Design, implement and test strategies for backup and recovery, security and 
       	disaster recovery of Informix server databases and servers.

Qualifications: 

*	No degree required.  Informix Certifications are beneficial.  

*	5+ years Informix database administration in medium to large corporate 
	environments.  In depth knowledge of other database platforms is helpful as 
	well.

*	System knowledge may include experience with a Unix OS,preferably HP-UX 
	but from various other vendors (Sun, IBM, etc); hardware installation 	requirements for mid-range system; database performance monitoring and 	capacity planning; OS functions and capabilities; familiarity with UNIX 	scheduling, archive/backup management, file transfer protocols and editors.

*	Rapidly learn new technologies and recommend / implement those 
	determined to be beneficial to the company.    

*	Basic project management skills; time management skills; multi-task and 	prioritize work loads; demonstrated analytical capabilities; effectively identify and 
	resolve problems in high visibility, high stress situations.  

*	Strong interpersonal skills; work effectively in dynamic environment with a 
	broad range of end-user configurations; participate in a team environment 
	and build strong working relationships.  

*	Functional knowledge of UNIX, networking, and development needed for end-
	to-end troubleshooting of issues.

*	Tolerance to ambiguity and the ability to apply best practices while taking into 
	account business realities.

*	Strong communication skills (oral and written); communicate effectively with 
	support peers, end users, and all levels of corporate management; manage 
	vendor communication; ability to create and host presentations and produce 
	documentation.  

*	Provide 7x24 support in a multi-faceted global corporation.

*	Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Visio required.
