Linux system administration and  configure and monitor networks to ensure
that the networks remain stable and secure. 

 

This will enable smooth and uninterrupted operations for rest of the team to
achieve various project milestones.

 

Daily Responsibilities:

. Setup NIS, secondary and other servers (as needed)and a server

. Setup each developer / validation workstation as a client of the main NIS
to centralize user / password / user homes / and other NFS resources.

. Document process used, and standard processes for updating those the maps

. Setup server mirrors as needed

. Install & configure open sourc e software as needed

. Lab Network Management Services

. Storage Area Network Management Services

. have a good Linux system administration background

. have some experience administering MS Win2k3 server as a file server / ftp
server.

 

. have good oral and written communications skills to document processes
developed / implemented in English.

 

. be proficient in common scripting languages associated with system
administration (sh, bash, perl, sed, awk )

 

. posess good systems troubleshooting skills with respect to client / server
architectures, NFS, NIS, HTTP, MySQL, IP networks, intranets.

. be familiar with data center type backup and recovery processes and
software (prefer Veritas NetBackup, but familiarity with Legato Networker,
or CA tools is OK if concepts are well understood

. be familiar with tape library c oncepts, including cleaning, tape
rotation, formatting, etc.

. be familiar with basic server and network instrumentation using SNMP, data
acquisition and storage concepts, and performance trending.

. be aware of SAN technologies and concepts

. be aware of Intel's IT processes for server administration, configuration,
backup and recovery so that we may re-use as many of those concepts, ideas
and processes as possible within our environment.

 

. Be able to perform /assist common server hardware swaps (replace hard
disks, install / upgrade RAID controllers, attach external disk arrays, etc
under the direction of the team leads.
