Linux Software Developer 

Description

The Open Source Technology Center within the Software and Solutions
Group is looking for senior software technical leads to develop new
Linux middleware, applications, and user interface technologies. In this
position, you are responsible to develop open source environment on new
Intel architectures that span Intel's mobile platforms, from ultra
mobile (Mobile Internet Devices) to notebook and low cost desktop. Key
technical focus areas include user interface, media, device management,
telephony (phone applications), and integration with the rest of the
platform in a way that is seamless and provides a high degree of
usability. Positions require positive interaction with the Linux
community to ensure code is developed in an acceptable manner and
adopted in upstream community projects as appropriate. 

 

Job Description: Software Engineers conduct or participate in
multidisciplinary research and collaborate with design, layout and/or
hardware engineers in the design, development, and utilization of
productivity enhancement layout tools and design rule checkers,
electronic data processing systems software. Determines computer user
needs, advises hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect
software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input
and/or output requirements, designs and develops compilers and
assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Responds to
customer and/or client requests or events as they occur. Develops
solutions to problems utilizing formal education, judgment and formal
software process. 

 

Requirements

-                 A strong background in Linux system design/development


-                 Technical Depth: Deep knowledge in at least one key
area of interest, for example, Kernel Software Development, Intel
X86-based Architecture, OpenSource Development, Linux Device Drivers,
Mobile Internet Devices, Telephony, Linux Distribution and Integration,
GDK, OpenGL, and/or 3D Graphics Programming. 

-                 Excellent communication skills 

-                 Demonstrate a high level of flexibility and ability to
participate in multiple areas of a nimble organization 

-                 Experience interacting with the Linux community would
be an added advantage
