JOB TITLE: System Administrator
SUMMARY
The System Engineer is responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting internal systems for office personnel, onsite and remote. Systems include but not limited to servers, services, server-side applications, network connectivity, printers, security, system administration and troubleshooting.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with peers and others.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a relevant field is generally preferred. 3-6 years experience in Computer Science or related field. Significant experience with Linux systems, including installation, configuration and troubleshooting. Assist in the definition and creation of system and network monitoring tools. Investigate internal and external product, process and system failures. Possess superior knowledge of problem solving tools, and demonstrates ability to apply these skills toward the formulation and deployment of effective corrective action. Think both strategically and tactically. Understand the linkages and relationships between individual quality subsystems. Able to formulate and propose strategic quality system direction to management, and implement tactical quality plans, as directed. Develop solutions to problems of moderate scope and complexity where erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results could have a significant adverse effect on product, process or the quality system. Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Prioritize work to meet deadlines. Possess superior teamwork skills, and participates on teams where provision of quality systems and regulatory compliance expertise is needed. Demonstrate ability to lead teams, as required. Maintain quality systems inspection readiness. Previous experience with a multi-site network configuration.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Devise and implement methods and procedures for the monitoring, control and evaluation of quality systems.
Provide technical quality and regulatory support, as needed.
Monitor and analyze quality system and regulatory compliance data to identify positive and adverse trends in order to enhance the suitability, efficiency and effectiveness of the quality system.
Discover, plan, and implement new projects with minimal technical guidance.
Some mentoring of JR and NOC staff personnel. Develop and document Best Practice processes and procedures.
DUTIES:
Installation, upgrades, maintenance and troubleshooting of IT systems.
Resolution of support requests from business and IT teams.
Diagnose and resolve internal system issues.
Accurately track problems and resolution in automated tracking tool.
Administration of Linux Server systems.
Ensure data recoverability by implementing backup solutions.
Writes system scripts/utilities in PHP or C-shell as needed.
Analyze business requirements to determine appropriate system infrastructure needs.
Assist team and supervisor with projects, documentation and inventory.
Apply analytical ability to examine technical data and determine solutions.
Develop and document small and large technical Project Plans, lead small teams.
Responds to production issues immediately to ensure continued processing (requires wearing a cell phone at all times).
Other duties and projects as assigned.
