One of TEKsystems' premiere clients is looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to join their DevOps team. This individual will sit at the Vancouver, WA location.

Salary Range: $70-90K
Top 3 Skills: Linux Systems Administration, command lines, MySQL (Ruby, Chef, Puppet are nice to haves )Deployment Automation experience
Description - Looking for an individual who has hands experience in implementing automation deployment framework using Chef, Puppet & strong Ruby programming experience

Education and Experience Required:

Technical Diploma in Information Technology (System Admin) / Computer Science or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of IT industry experience

Knowledge and Skills Required:

* Expertise with various flavors of Linux (preferably RedHat Enterprise and CentOS)
* Experience in modern automated deployment and configuration management tools preferably using Opscode Chef or Puppet, able to translate deployment requirements into automation code and identify best practices
* Hands on & proficient in scripting, automation and troubleshooting of processes and systems, scripting in the shell (Ruby, Perl, Bash).
* Experience in implementation of application availability, monitoring and operation tools for enterprise Web applications preferably using Nagios, Zabbix, Splunk, etc
* Hands on experience in setting up monitors & alerts for servers, applications, databases, web services , virtualization and generating availability reports
* Good understanding of relational databases preferably in MySQL for proactive database monitoring & troubleshooting
* Hands on experience of open source software including Apache, Tomcat, My SQL, Squid proxy & Nginx.
* Experience in deploying and maintaining cloud based systems (e.g. Amazon EC2, Rackspace Cloud, etc.)
* Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to define and automate deployment process.

This is an open-ended contract with the high likelihood of permanent conversion. The DevOps manager is looking for someone who can benefit from a highly technical environment, and is willing to train and grow someone with various new deployment and configuration management tools, scripting languages, cloud technologies, etc.

Although this client is looking for someone with strong systems administration experience in Linux, they are not looking for a high level engineer or architect. This person will be able to come in and gain more advanced skills in all of these technologies.
