*Description*

*Description*
The Open Source Technology Center within the Software and Services Group is
looking for Integration/SCM engineers for SW development of Android IA
based products. The team is in the early forming stage and provides a great
opportunity to play a key role in building the organization and
capabilities from the ground up.

You will help define and manage branching and merging strategies, debug
integration issues, troubleshoot and resolve any problems with Git/Gerrit
servers. Optionally, help educate engineering community on appropriate and
efficient use of Git and other Android tools. Candidates will be able to
also manage multiple engagements simultaneously, have the technical depth
to understand debugging and system configuration, testing methodologies,
and the flexibility to seamlessly move from hardware configuration issues
through to Server based tools configuration issues and back, the ability to
identify high priority issues from a vast pool of data, and the confidence
and ability to communicate difficult issues to our partners in a
constructive way.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience to thrive in a complex
software systems involving multi-platform development environment as well
as have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
You'll work with developers, QA teams, and program managers to design and
develop best SCM/Integration and release processes to ensure that Platforms
deliver quality systems.

*Qualifications*

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for integration, configuration management and automation for
Android product software development.
- Help to implement SCM/System Integration best practices. Analyze, improve
and automate existing processes. Continually evaluate tools and
technologies to improve the overall Integration/SCM processes.
- Responsible for managing and administering multiple instances of Git,
including the build server infrastructure and operating environment for
Android; develop server-side scripts/SW to customize Git and to tie in with
other tools such as Gerrit/Jira , Jenkins/Hudson, etc.
- Integrate various software components in kernel and user space together
from upstream codebase to provide a working baseline for development and
testing on a daily basis
- Perform software branch and merge processes between release cycles. Debug
day to day android issues using GDB and ADB, resolve git/gerrit conflicts
while merging patches and branches
- Engage with cross-functional teams and co-ordinate deployment activities.
- Communicate integration status and proactively work with appropriate
development teams and QA to resolve conflicts and software configuration
and build issues.
- Suggest code branching and merging strategies, enable and maintain GIT
repos, tools etc
- Work closely with software developers and leads to resolve software
issues gating customer releases
- Drive integration bugs to closure and help to maintain the quality of
source code being developed

*Qualifications*
B.S or M.S in Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer
Engineering or equivalent; BS +7 yrs of experience, or MS +5 years
experience in a combination of the following:
- 4+ years Experience with Git and Gerrit as an administrator. Deep
understanding of software configuration management (SCM) /Integration
processes and tools for large, multi-site product development with very
strong problem solving and android/linux debugging skills.
- Excellent scripting skills; Python,Perl etc , branching / merging
strategies, shell scripting, Linux commands, SCM day to day operations,
continuous integration tools. Strong experience in Android Build System(ABS)
- Deep understanding of client and/or hardware technologies, developing
plugins for integrating various components of tools and Infrastructure
- Experience with administering Linux Servers(Ubuntu preferred) with
knowledge of Virtual Machine management tools like Ganeti
- Knowledge of high performance and reliable storage arrays; namely SAN and
NAS concepts .
- Good knowledge of Licensing, IP plans , Static analysis tools etc; have
worked with open source software community, including success with getting
code accepted in upstream open source projects
