I think you are essentially agreeing with me. The concept of a business is
neither good, nor evil. A particular company may do good or evil things.
What I think people fail to see is that people make the decisions at a
business, so people are choosing to do things that are good or evil or
neither. I have met many people that do not understand that a company's
sole reason for existance is to generate profit for the owners. Nothing
more and nothing less. That isn't evil. I have heard people say things
like, "This company only cares about making money" and "They don't care
about me, they just want to make more money". Of course the management only
cares about making more money! That is the only purpose they have.
Companies don't exist as a means to provide pay and benefits to employees;
that is a by product. It is probably in a companies best interest to have
happy employees as it promotes less turn over and better productivity, but
that doesn't change what the purpose of the company is. I think that if
people realize this, they will make better decision regarding their
employment and have a better attitude about it.
