[PLUG-TALK] Rioting over Bush visits...

Why isn't Bush giving his right to speak when he is in Portland?
Should he not come to Portland because Portland is an overly
close minded city?

What I have to say about this close mindedness, hopefully something
helpful.

Portland has a lot to be afraid of with this President.
The fiasco of port workers being high on marijuana comes to mind.
So too does the fact that Oregon's so called "assisted suicide
revolution" stopped here. Portland voters remember that the
vote on the last measure to repeal Assisted Suicide was nearly
50/50, don't they? If a super majority was required to keep
measure 16 in force, it'd be gone now.

I have serious doubts about the idea that two same gender people
can form the kind of commitment marriage requires.
If a gay man wants a masculine man, what gay man is masculine?
A masculine man is going to want to marry a woman, if anyone.
Maybe a strong gay lobby is why the President has a hard time
speaking in Portland. If it's impossible for homosexuals to
succeed in same sex marriages, doesn't the truth need to come
out?

I'd like to see society as a whole get away from the
notion that everyone needs sex and that marriage is mostly
sex. Unfortunately, I don't see Warner Bros WB32 changing
it's programming anytime soon, nor do I see Fox or UPN cleaning
up. I watched one of the Jake 2.0's, actually episode one. I was
disappointed that it was treated as insignificant to know about
computers compared to what it takes to be a spy. Specifically,
the notion that being a spy gets the girl is lame. One would
hope that the plot takes on a sub theme such as, "the technology
in Jake makes sexual contact with him a risk to women, so he
learns to embrace a single and celibate lifestyle." Unfortunately,
it looks like Jake is a jerk who will probably abuse his power and
ultimately hurt all the women who are major characters in the series.
Especially with the James Bond movies that are so popular, and the fact
that promiscuity is even showing up on Enterprise, I doubt I'll be
proven wrong. Tis a real shame, if the show were moral it would
be really interesting to me (aside from the pro Windows mentality
that was displayed).

Can two same sex people accomplish loyalty to each other meaning
abstinence with any and all other people? In some traditional
marriages there has been cheating, but the statistics show that
most marriages with cheating fail. What is the reason
for government to encourage gay marriage if there is such a high
incident of aids in the gay community and no reproductive or other
sociological benefit from same sex sexual activities? The promiscuity
of homosexuals is apparently much worse than I ever imagined, I can't
imagine 1000 incidents of homosexual sex for a single person. For
those who say allowing marriage improves sexual behavior, they must
be ignoring: the high divorce rate, cases of pedophile fathers, child
abuse by some mothers, cases of depressed spouses, domestic violence
incidents, etc.

If everyone who should abstain did so for just ten years, I bet aids
would disappear entirely.

I don't know what the political problem is in Portland specifically,
though I will say that it's hard to find any balance of political
opinion there. I wonder how politics came to this in Portland?

Whatever the reason is that Bush can't speak in Portland without
riots opening up downtown, it's a shame. I hope everyone can agree
on that at least.
