[PLUG-TALK] Hard Drive Prices

In 1987 or thereabouts, I bought a 600MB CDC/Imprimis SCSI hard drive
for my Unix (BSD variant) workstation. I got a special deal, and paid
only $2000.00 for it. The latest Fry's ad shows a 750GB Seagate IDE
drive for $100.00 . That is a price reduction per byte of 25,000
times, NOT including inflation. With inflation, it is about 47,000
times.

So what will the price be next year? The inflation adjusted price
should halve again. But the way the economy is going, we may be
going into hyperinflation and a hard drive will probably be $2000
again ... :-(
