LyX offers me two advantages over LaTeX in Emacs: 1) it's easier to read
content because the tags are in unobtrusive grey boxes and 2) it's much more
productive for writing and editing.
My book has extensive math and figures and LyX made everything very easy
to write, edit, and tune. I sent Springer all the LaTeX output (along with
the pdf file), and all they did was add the inside cover and first four
pages (I started numbering the forematter at page 5).
An excellent tool.
