My work network, because we did work for electric utilities (my first
tasks were on Bonneville Power Admin projects), I used the names of
federal hydroelectric dams on the Columbia River system, e.g.:
bonneville, coulee, johnday, etc.

For my non-work network, I used the names of Wasco County communities
(as a kid, I spent lots of summer time in The Dalles where my maternal
grandparents lived), e.g.: dalles, dufur, friend, mosier (a laptop),
rowena, etc. By now, some of the Wasco County names I've used are
places I don't remember ever going before, but now want to.

For Personal Telco networks, there were a bunch of nonsensical
hostnames when I arrived, and we've retained those, but for new ones I
just make up some only-vaguely relevant name relating to or playing on
the node or node host somehow. I was probably inspired in that by
some previous person who named the Old Town Pizza node's gateway
machine "thehut". Some just boringly use the node host's name. That
makes me sad. The luckylab nodes (3 of them) are named: fetch, bowser
and spot. AnnaBannanasStJohns is named kong.
