I posted this Politically Correct message to the xkcd forum:
---
Resistor color code from the Society for Women Engineers
at the University of Minnesota, circa 1980:
"By Becoming Revolutionary Orators, Young Girls Become Very Great Women"
No tolerance codes, hmm...
And the special mnemonic for 33K ohms was "bumblebee"

BTW, Friday January 6, 2012 is "xkcd1k" strip #1000. Since Randal
Munroe is on the east coast, and typically releases the strips
around midnight, that strip will likely show up sometime after
9pm on Thursday Jan 5, when some of us will be at the Lucky Lab
Northwest for general meeting Afters.
I suggest we invite xkcd fans from the region and have a late
night party. I will bring some big paper and an easel - if
Randal is tardy that evening, we can do our own xkcd1k cartoons.
