I discovered Indivo and went to their website http://indivohealth.org/,
but couldn't figure out how to use it. There was no invitation to sign
up, no software to download, no sales pitch, no explanation; just a
statement of how nice it is. Best I can figure out is that it is some
kind of back end for software to be developed by or for providers or
insurers or some group that I am supposed to be part of.
What I was looking for was some web-based system to which I could
upload test data to my secure account, where I could give a physician
the right to look at it. Ultimately it could eliminate the need for a
at least some office visits. There are a lot of medical devices that
accumulate medical data, from a simple blood pressure monitor to
complex heat monitors. Put a radio in them and a computer with a net
connection as the intermediary, and a provider can see what is going on
with the patient remotely at any time. You could even build warnings
into the system so if a reading goes over a certain limit it e-mails
the provider and patient.
I'm all in favor of this use of technology. I just don't want Microsoft
to be the one monitoring me.
