[PLUG-TALK] remote key input

[wes]

where by remote I mean VERY remote... 1km?

I saw this posted to a project board:

---
looking for a device which can act like mouse left button over long range,
up to 1 kilometer. No public cellular networks available between the device
and my PC and also no line of sight. It should be as fast as mouse, or
close to that speed.
---

anyone have any idea how this might be accomplished? the closest I can
imagine doing on my own would be something like a small netbook with a
high-power 802.11 antenna, and input-sharing software like Synergy to
transmit the keypress.

I'm sure this could be done more efficiently with radio. the hard part
would be converting the signal at each end.
