I just got off the phone with a customer service rep for Frontier and my
experience was the other extreme of yours. My business land line shows two
blocks of metered calls and I was under the impression that local calls were
included in the base fee. They are not. All outgoing calls are charged per
minute (or fraction thereof); just like Ma Bell did in New York City in the
time before the telco was partitioned into what became what we now have.

Anywho, as I talked with him he suggested that he should be able to find a
better plan for me. He did. For less that I'm now paying per month I get the
same features (ring-tone for the fax line, voice mail, etc.) plus toll-free
long distance across the US. This will let me drop the Sprint non-LATA
account I've used for years so the total savings will be at least $15/month.
Not bad at all! I was really pleased that he showed the initiative to find a
more economical plan for me. They could also add high-speed Internet access
for $10/month but I like Aracnet/SpiritOne and I don't think Frontier would
host my domains and let me run my own servers.

   Sorry about your experience, Michael.

Rich
