Sugar controls insulin, and insulin mediates lipid storage and use as fuel
to produce ATP. If you would like the story of insulin (based on sugars,
starches, and refined white grains) and 'metabolic syndrome' (heart disease,
obesity, perhaps cancers and Alzheimer's) read Gary Taube's "Good Calories,
Bad Calories." Literally a life-changing book based on years of research.
