I've only checked out AWS a couple of times, and it was such a pain that
I just turned away from it. I thought I was setting up something
really simple for a friend. Something I would have expected to pay like
$20/month for, and suddenly they got billed more than $50 for a single
month. This was for a single website with hardly no traffic at all.
Not sure the hell they were billing for. It made no sense at all. So
instead, I now recommend linode.com where the price seems pretty static
for a simple VM.
Anyway. If they do offer the choice of storage types, perhaps that
could work. If I'm willing to spend the time figuring their shit out in
a way they don't over bill me for a simple website. ;-)
