   My friend decided to replace the failing iPhone4 with a slightly newer
model because of Google's reputation for being intrusive.

   A number of folks who used to use PalmOS phones/PDAs switched to using
owncloud to store their android phone data. I've also seen references to OSS
replacements for the default android OS that comes on the phone.
