That requires a bunch of RJ-45 plugs.

Yep. $407 for one on Amazon is not worth it for me. Home Depot sells 100
feet of cat5e cable for > $15. I'm using it to replace the cat5 cables for
each link.
So, I wonder if Waste Management accepts ethernet cables for recycling.
Perhaps FG does.
