Dad arrived after D-Day. He was with the Quartermaster Corps, doing
mop-up - going from town to town, securing arsenals (and using up German
ammo.) All he would tell me about were when they found and
"requisitioned" a cellarful of Mosel Champagne, and a rare moment of
bliss just sitting alone in a dining-car with music on the radio and a
very good meal.
