Ozone is very effective against a lot of things, not just viruses. As
we all know, ozone is oxygen with an extra O, making it unstable. The
extra O 'burns' small particles.

In my research on air purifiers I found that many manufacturers no
longer provide an end-stage ozone bath because the public fears the
effect of ozone on the body. Breathing a little extra oxygen is OK, but
breathing ozone will 'burn' your lungs. Not cool.

My air purifier is a Winix brand, which uses their patented alternative
to ozone, that they call PlasmaWave(tm). It breaks apart natural H2O in
the air and converts it to hydroxyl (HO), i.e., water that is missing
one of its hydrogens. Like ozone, hydroxyl is unstable, so it grabs an
extra H from anything available, including viruses. The result is H2O,
carbon dioxide, or other acceptable compounds, so there is nothing to
burn my lungs when I breathe it. The air purifier is certified by AHAM,
a private industry group, but as far as I know home air purifiers don't
require approval by FDA or anything with similar trustworthiness. And
their website provides no links to research data. But when I bought it
I was concerned only with allergens and not having to dust the house
as often, not viruses. And I should add that even an air purifier that
will remove viruses can't do it in one pass; their effectiveness
depends on continuously recirculating the air.

Can we make a face mask with something like HO or O3? That would
require electricity, not to mention some pretty ingenious engineering.
The problem with face masks (even the medical grade) is that they can't
catch 100% of viruses, plus they leak around the periphery where they
contact the skin. Add the fact that COVID-19 is 0.3 microns, one of the
smallest viruses. I think the better practice is to stay away from
other humans, and use gloves, or virucidal wipes on surfaces in public
places.
