Well, charcoal, probably not activated: "... a form of
carbon processed to have small, low-volume pores that
increase the surface area available for adsorption or
chemical reactions ..." -- wikipedia.
(black?) adjectives matter.
Again, excess deposits on the faucet-wrapping washcloth
is an indicator. My main concern is the vastly higher
deposition rates, and what the carbon-laden water might
have done to the $$$ drinking water filter in my
kitchen. I will take that apart and look; 30 minutes
of work, not 30 seconds.
Crud-but-not-water-related:
At the peak of the airborn particulates, a LOT of black
crud was deposited in my "two MERV-13 filters around a
box fan sandwich" window air intake kludge. I had to
stop using that after two days, though the brief fresh
air respite and the outward venting of wall plenums
and other leaky spaces was welcome.
