[PLUG-TALK] Looking for a printer, probably not HP anymore

Though they occupy more storage space than I like,
I purchase and stockpile used spares for my HP4100N
B&W printers (2 deployed) and HP2605dn color printer.
I can probably keep the 4100N running for decades,
and I love the repair-depot-level PDF service manual.

My HP2605dn color laser printer is a pain in the a$$.
Probably because it leaks toner and damages itself.

So, I hope to find a trustworthy color laser printer
with ethernet, postscript, duplexing, multiple trays
(I typically print A US and/or A4 Euro). I've read
good things about Brother; which model is "best"?

IMHO, "best" is a sum of repairable, reliable, and
low-cost-consumables, with the features above, while
wifi and tiny-screen menus are negatives. I prefer
two ream-sized paper trays. That is less effort, though
it makes my 4100N "stack" taller than it is wide, and
damned heavy when loaded with paper and full toner.

Good Linux drivers are essential, open source drivers
desirable (helps with debug). Used is preferred - I'd
rather have a good track record and other experienced
owners than the latest and greatest.

PS: I also have an ancient Brother printer/fax -
the button/screen menu on that sucks, and we can't
configure it via an ethernet web page UI. But I do
NOT want an "All in one" printer/fax/copier for my
main color printer, for security/HIPAA reasons.

PPS: I have a crap-ton of spare "D" pickup rollers
for the HP4100N; it was cheaper to buy 100 of them
from China than two sets of 8 from other sources.
So if anyone else needs spares ...
