David,
I haven’t personally used any of these, but am generally skeptical of
anyone doing advertising. Back in 2020 I had started talking to a guy who
came to our door right before covid started, hoping to find out some of the
details so i could assess what was on offer, and then thankfully he
disappeared when the world turned upside down.
The general impression I have is that these businesses are more of a
financing scheme where the real product is a loan, rather than a utility
service like an electrician. Most businesses that offer to help you finance
a purchase of their product are pretty scammy, imho (e.g. car dealers).
I’m definitely interested in getting some solar panels up at the next
house, but I’ll be attempting it myself while leaning heavily on the
expertise of my wife’s uncle, who has done several installs on his own
property and has some strong opinions on underlying tech and manufacturers.
Caveat Emptor, in short.
Cheers,
Nathan
