That's a really interesting read. Thanks for sharing it.
Since almost(?) all SD cards are used in cameras and mobile phones (likely
for storing images there, too) data integrity is likely not considered a
major concern.

Perhaps okay is you want to buy a container load of cards at a time.

I, too, gave up on that. I bought a Sabrent enclosure designed for 2.5" SSDs
and put the 500 GB Samsung EVO 850 drive from the Dell Latitude in it. That
will be sufficient augmentation for my data storage needs and the 240 GB M.2
board in the ThinkPad X1 is sufficient for commonly needed applications and
data.
