Apology accepted, I will point out it is as odious to teach high school kids that single-lingual people are somehow worse than bilingual people, as it is to teach high school kids that gay people are somehow worse than straights. And I was overjoyed to have an opportunity to illustrate that basic hypocrisy. Sorry I made it seem like I was burning you, when I know you probably are well versed in this issue. (but for your own good you will likely not touch this hot potato LOL)

The BIPOC crowd constantly knocks state funded education as being "white biased" and want instruction made easier/more accessible for minorities so as to help them achieve graduation so they can get better jobs and have higher economic status. Yet the fact that requiring a useless second language makes achieving graduation much more difficult for any child is routinely ignored by them. How hypocritical is that? We must ease requirements to make it easier for "our" people to graduate yet make it more difficult for "your" people to graduate by forcing them to learn extra useless stuff they will never use.

Second languages should certainly be available for students that WANT to study them in high school. But they should be electives not requirements. If it's OK to require them then dammit, let's require music education then maybe we will graduate kids that listen to actual music instead of crap. (there's a reason rap is part of crap, lol)
