Shortly after installing Aegisub-procles (by Snap) on Xubuntu 22.04.3 I
discovered problems. It will load an SRT file as it should, and it will
also load the video file for which the subtitles are being designed,
but when the actors in the video say something you can't hear them
because Pulseaudio won't play sound from Aegisub-procles. Sound works
fine from everything else, but evidently the packager of the Snap
package left something out.

I am writing this several days later, after installing Debian 12
Bookworm as a guest OS in VirtualBox for the purpose of experimenting
to see if I can run all the applications that I need. One of the things
I discovered is that Aegisub (regular, not -procles) is in the Debian
12 repositories. I installed it, and just now loaded an SRT file and
its matching video file, and when I play the video file lovely sound
comes out of the speakers, in spite of being in a guest OS.

That's a win for Debian 12, but I still have a dozen of my must-have
applications that are not in the repositories, at least, not yet.
