I walked away from the tech industry about a decade ago as it seemed to me that it mostly only served people with $$$ and really wasn't delivering the public good.
I've been a Debian user ever since I learned about their social contract, which I think is going on 20 years now.
Anyway, every now and then a story of some tech folks putting tech to work to do some actual good in the world warms up the ol' cockles and restores a lil' bit of faith in the human species.
