You can operate the eraser-head & USB mouse w/out any problems. I had a
Dell laptop with both the touch-pad & eraser-head and it was trivial to
get the eraser-head & a USB mouse working at the same time. It wasn't as
easy with the touchpad. 

I think you would just need to define both your touch-pad and usb-mouse
in your XF86config file for both of them to work. I wish I could help
more, but I don't have my laptop anymore, which makes testing
impossible..
