Uh, scratch that.  Upon re-reading my own gibberish, I think you have to
connect the uplink port on one device to a "normal" host port on the
other.  Some devices are kind of smart and auto-sense whether a crossover
is needed.  But I bet that for the devices you mentioned, you'll want to
use "uplink" on one to a regular port on the next.  Sorry for that.
