[PLUG] Linux-friendly Laptops On EBay?

Can anyone speak for ECS notebooks, especially for running Linux?  I
hadn't even heard of them, but this one looks like the best deal for a
high-end system:

But I'm skeptical, because ETC is selling 1.6GHz "Centrinos" for more,
which only appear superior by a half gig' of RAM and a better battery.

I've also heard good things about Thinkpads, but any I've found over
1GHz in speed have also been expensive.
