Really...considering the Windows track record, it's unsurprising that
everyone has tried to get into the OS business.

Windows is Microsoft's premiere cash crop. They make money off it like
Pfizer off Viagra.

Businesses are designed to make a profit. Windows makes a huge profit.
Ergo, Windows is good business.

Honestly, the problem is that no one's managed to get a law requiring
that all Operating Surfaces (i.e. Internet Explorer as well, as you can
run a program using it as the backbone) be fully open to outside
investigation.

Or better, that all code be fully open.

No, I do NOT mean open source. I just mean available to view.

You can take apart a tivo, or a roomba, or any mechanical object, why
not a piece of software?
