This morning due to catastrophic failure (dead disk) I took barley.patch.com off line.

Barley initially went online when patch.com was registered in March 1994.
While the machine went through some upgrades over the years it remained
in constant service, attaining a few uptimes in excess of a year.  Due to 
the stability of the machine I slowed down on the upgrades and just let it run.

barley was the primary mail server for patch.com, hosted web sites including
the one for the Oregon Brew Crew, supported a dozen email lists with mailman,
provided time services and until a couple of months ago was the primary DNS
machine for patch.com.  A multi service server until the end.

Barley's last uname produced:

  Linux barley.patch.com 2.2.12-20 #1 Mon Sep 27 10:25:54 EDT 1999 i686 unknown

Yep, a four year old kernel.
